The water level in the tank is 15 m above the discharge point of the pipe. The pipe discharges directly into the atmosphere, with the flow controlled by a valve at its end. i. Calculate the pressure rise at the valve for a rigid water column if the valve is closed in 5.0 seconds. You may assume a constant friction factor, f, of 0.0075. 11 marks How does this value compare with that obtained if fully compressible flow conditions were assumed? ii. 4 marks (Total marks available 25)
