(Explanation) Alpha Helices exposed on the surface have a lower proportion of hydrophobic amino acids. Amino acids content can be predictive of an alpha - helical region. Regions richer in alanine (A), glutamic acid (E), leucine (L) and metholoniine(M) and pooe in proline (p), glucine (G), tyrosine (T) and serine (S) tend to form alpha-helix. Proline destabilizes or breaks on alpha-helix but can be present in longer helices forming a bend. a) so here peptide # 2 has less serine (S) so it is more likely to form alpha helix rather than peptide #1. (b) Similarly peptide #4 is more likely to form beta-strand as there are less alanine (A).
