Deficiencies in the nutrients in the body can lead to a variety of health problems. Many problems can occur due to these deficiencies such as digestion, skin disorders, defective bone growth and dementia. As per ones’ age proper amount of nutrients should be consumed is determined.

Any of the nutrient related diseases and conditions that cause illness in humans is known as nutritional disease. These diseases may be due to the deficiencies or excess consumption of various foods in the diet. Any improper ratio of nutrients causes obesity and eating disorders, and chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, cancer, and diabetes mellitus.

A nutritional deficiency occurs when the body doesn't absorb or get proper food that is necessary amount of a nutrient.
