Hi,

Please find the answers below:

The purpose of design reviews is the technical assessment to evaluate the design against the requirements in the SRS document. The purpose is to answer the question

Are we designing the product right?

Are we designing the right product?

The design reviews happen in many phases like PDRs (Preliminary design review), CDR (Critical design review), FDR(Final Design Review), etc. These can happen in formal and informal ways.

Effective design reviews should include independent persons who are not involved in the design process. For example, we can have architects, technical experts from another project to perform the design review.

Schedule:

Invites are sent to all participants prior to the design review. The typical review meeting consists of 5-10 participants. Some from the design team and project being reviewed and others from cross teams and independent members.

Members are notified with the agenda and confidential design document is shared.

Meeting room with required facilities like presentation, video recording, teleconference facilities(if the review team is located in another geolocation) is booked for the design review.

Materials:

Key Project's needs and requirements.

Design document.

Walkthrough of the Design process and architecture diagrams, flow charts.

Design assumptions made (if any).

Hope this helps.
