1) protein sparing effect

It is also called as amino acid sparing which means the body uses other sources (like carbohydrates, fatty tissues, dietary fats)for energy production other than proteins. It results in the conservation of proteins in muscles. The protein is conserved on a greater ratio in the body

When weight loss diets are inappropriately low in carbohydrates, then the body uses fats for energy production. It results in the increased production of ketones on the body, which leads to ketosis. In order to prevent ketosis, one have to take moderate protein intake. That is, 1.5- 2.0 grams/kg is needed in a low carbohydrate diet. Excessive protein consumption in low carb diet prevents ketosis.

2) vitamin B9 ( folate) and vitamin B12(cyanocobalamin) are the B vitamins that are involved in blood formation

a) folate ( vitamin B9)

It is required in the blood production. Tetrahydrofolic acid is the active form of vitamin. This vitamin also helps in DNA production and amino acid processing. It also work as a coenzyme in blood cell formation.

b) cyanocobalamin ( vitamin B12)

It works as a coenzyme for the production of purines and thiamidylates, which are essential components in DNA synthesis
