So we're given some chemical equations and we have to write down what the total Ionic and the Net ionic equations are. The nice thing is, they give us the initial equations, so it's going right down the 1st 1 here. We've got hydrochloric acid, and I'm going to spend a little bit of time here to write the phases because they are Preeti Important, plus sodium hydroxide yielding sodium chloride. And that's Equus. Generally, anything in Group One is going to be a curious plus water each toe liquid. So we have toe write down. What is the total Ionic equation? Well, remember, each of these acquiesced bits can be broken up into the cat ion and the anti on because that's physically what's happening in solution is the ah. So, for instance, you have the positively charged hydrogen, and then you have had the negatively charged chloride and those air physically separated in solution. They're not Ionic Lee bound to each other in solution because it's soluble. That's what a quickest means on. So I'm gonna physically write them as separated. So again, let's write out the individual pieces bits that are acquis Arthuis, Ah, hydrochloric acid and the magnesium chloride. So I'm going to write them as separated, amused green for the total here. So magnesium metal plus two moles of H plus plus two moles of C l minus. Remember, So the two coefficient appear distributes to both of these yields magnesium chloride. So magnesium is two plus plus two chlorine, all each of one minus That way, the charges balance plus each to gas. Okay, so parts that cancel, Really, it's just the glory in In this case, that's the only thing that cancels. And so the net Ionic is going to be magnesium metal plus two moles of hydrogen cat ion, and that's dissolved in solution yields magnesium. Can I on also dissolved in solution plus hydrogen gas?
