When identifying molecular versus ionic compounds, there's a simple rule to follow. Molecular compounds are going to be made up of just non metals. Ionic compounds will be made up of a metal and nonmetal or a poly atomic ion is present. Polly atomic ions are listed in a table in the textbook. Make sure your review and memorize these. The first one is c F two Cl two. Nothing here is associated with a poly atomic ion. Carbon, florian, chlorine are all non metals, so this is molecular. The next one is carbon in for chlorine, all non metals. Also molecular. Then we have platinum and oxygen. Platinum is a metal, oxygen is a non metal, so this is ionic and the last one is sulfur dioxide, sulfur and oxygen are non metals, so this is molecular.
