Let's take the Boothroyd. So Sigmund Freud, as we all know, is one of the famous people psychology, and he was responsible for what is called psychoanalytic theory. If you remember, Freud was part That's sort of the start of the 18 hundreds. Um, and he was an Austrian. Um, he was an Austrian psychologist. He worked with women who had stay area in extreme neuroses. And he was fascinated by, um why maybe some of his patients acted. The way that they did is really curious why this behavior was so extremely different from anything going on. So one of the main components of his theory is something that this question is asking us to know. We're wondering there's maybe a little different components of it. There's Could it be maybe trafficking. Not sure if you remember what this is, but this is an ancient practice very, very, very long before psychology where people have schools, and they if there was any kind of psychological damage going on, where people were acting really strange, depressed, what they would do is they would cut small fragment out of the school and they would let some of the blood out try and keep the spirit. Let the spirits free is what they thought that they were doing. So this clearly is not what Freud has been doing. Hopefully, hopefully we never find out that he was doing that, so it wouldn't be something like trafficking. We know that it wouldn't be structuralism because we know that site. Freud was psychoanalytic in his psychological orientation, so he didn't really deal with structuralism. However, we do know. But he was really interested in stuff the unconscious mind. Freud, if you remember, you know anything about his theory? You had this idea of the iceberg, right? So you've got your ID, your ego, which is kind of in the middle here, and then your super ego just getting that's all backwards. Don't look at that the other way around. So your ID is underneath everything, says the iceberg theory. So there's all the water. Here's your ice word, and you have several components. So you have your super ego here in this kind of runs along user society's expectations. This is your You go when you're it is kind of your pressed unconscious mind. So we're thinking about Freud in psychoanalytic theory. We know for sure that this is what he was talking about

So let's say you've been having some crazy dreams lately. You're in bed. Well, guess actually, if you were in bed will be able to see you a little bit better. You are lumped in the covers. So here you are. You have been having these crazy dreams lately. Absolutely bananas in there. And you have a psychologist in. Your psychologist says that these dreams super important, that they're telling us something important about what's going on in your head. So we want you to remember all these dreams, and we want you to talk about it when you go to therapy. What kind of therapist might best be or what kind of research psychologist might be interested in these dreams here. So let's there up a different couple different types of psychologists and try and work through which one of these would most likely be interested in analysing your dreams. So we have a behaviorist. We might have a by a psychologist. Oops. Did that backwards? A little bit of a lag. There we go. Now we're back by a psychologist. Psychoanalytic. Oops. My gosh, I'm really struggling with spelling today, I guess Psychoanalytic, evolutionary and structuralist. So let's talk about each of these to see if maybe they might qualify. So first, let's talk about a behaviorist. Would a behaviors be interested in your dreams? Well, I would think about behaviorists by nature, Really? Just want to study what is objective. What can these what does something happen or doesn't not happen? So they might be able to be interested in whether you're dreaming where if you're not dreaming, but they probably don't care about the content of your dreams so much so it's probably not behaviorist. What about a by a psychologist? They're probably really interested in what kind of sleep state you're in, what kind of dreams, like what your brainwaves were doing while you're dreaming that they're probably not really very interested, either in the content of those dreams. So probably not by a psychologist, not a psychoanalytic psychologist. Psychoanalysts are often really, really concerned with dreams. They think that the symbolic Mrs telling you something about what's going on in your interpersonal workings. So let's hold on to that one. That could be a very good one. Check evolutionary psychology. So maybe an evolutionary psychologist would be interested in why dreaming developed what purpose does it serve? But again, they're probably not interested in the content of these dreams and structurally structural lists. Um, remember, this was a very, very early on psychology. This isn't actually something that we really do anymore. Um, and it was more of a historical point in structuralism is understanding the structure of the mind, whatever the structure of our things. So they might be interested in the content of your dreams. But this isn't something that's normally practiced much anymore. So just based off of that, it's probably not kiss. Which leaves us with our best answer, which is you're probably going to be dealing with a psycho analytic researcher.

Many of Freud's theories were developed from his use of case studies. A study is when you focus on one or a few individuals and you basically study them in death, you study them over the course of time. You asked him a lot of different questions, and a lot of the information that you come up with is your own interpretation, then of that individual case. Now this can be really interesting, as's faras trying to develop theories in their early stages. However, one of the biggest problems with case studies is that they often lack generalize ability. This is part of why a lot of Freud's ideas are no longer really relevant in modern psychology. There is there are cases when case studies can be relevant. Sometimes, like I mentioned, they can give birth to these new theories and then, if those Siri's contend be tested through experimentation and then be generalized to the greater population, they could be very informative. However, the case study of a few individual people, especially those who may not be completely psychologically healthy, rarely go on to be generalized to the population of interests

So let's see your therapist. There's no foot board sitting in a chair providing therapy. You have this really awesome green chair that you love. And when you provide therapy, sometimes you like to change the way that you do therapy for every single client that you have. So your first client comes in in your first Quiet has a really hard time accessing their thoughts. They don't really know how to tell you what they're thinking very well. So as a therapist, you might tell them. Okay, let's try some behavioral that needs. What does that mean? Let's try and find some way to reward your good behavior or behavior that helps you function better, may be punished or make it less appealing to do the heater. That isn't helping you very well. Your client goes awesome. This is a great method for me. I'm super happy. Your next client come in. Who comes in is very, very different person. They are a client who comes in and they're super super in touch with their thoughts and their dreams. And they attribute a lot to this. So this person, you know, maybe like the couch technique that you sometimes see, and they love talking about their dreams. That's something that's really important to them. You and your third, as a therapist might say, Let's try. It's in Psycho When I let it take me, your client, Friends of Super Super Valuable he says. Oh my gosh, that hoped so much. Thank you for listening to me. I'm meeting me where I'm at. Let's say maybe you've got someone who is sort of in the middle. You don't really like to talk about their thoughts too much that they really, really do not believe in dreams. They think that it's a little bit of garbage. So you have Someone comes in and they're pretty good about talking about their thoughts. They're pretty good about talking about their feelings. And they're somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. As a therapist, you might say, Wait, let's try a little bit with all the techniques. What we call this Well, this is what we would call on the quiet. A lot of therapists now will probably consider them sex to be a clock
