August 24, 2021 by lindawr

Having trouble because “Miracast Available with hdcp” but not working on your Windows while mirroring your screen? Click to see effective solutions now!

Miracast is the wireless technology that allows you to cast your personal devices’ screen to TVs, projectors, etc. In short, you can understand this as HDMI through Wi-Fi. The standard has recently gained popularity for its compactness and efficacy. Though it’s quite easy to operate and utilize, you might face some troubles handling it without a compatible device. Our post will guide you step by step on how to deal with the Miracast Available With HDCP problems.

Check Miracast Compatibility

One of the most common issues is that Miracast is not compatible with your device, or else, your operating system does not support it. Below are two techniques to check the Miracast’s compatibility on your device.

#1. Using Project Pane

When the message “Connect to a wireless display” pops up at the end of the Project pane when you press Windows + P, then your PC does support Miracast. If not, try the next method to check.

#2. Using DxDiag

This method consists of four steps:

1. Press Windows + R to search for dxdiag.

2. Wait for the DirectX Diagnostics utensil to collect data about your device.

3. Click Save All Information, then save the DxDiag.txt file to your desktop.

4. Check on the DxDiag.txt file, look for Miracast status.

If the status is Miracast: Available, no hdcp, it means you cannot use Miracast on the device.

“Not Available” or otherwise, “Not Supported” would require support from an adapter for Miracast. You will need to get a new one.

It’s a good sign when the status writes Miracast: Available, with hdcp. Generally, Miracast Available with hdcp mean that your devices support the standard. Then why is it not working? Follow the next guideline to fix your problem.

Miracast Available With HDCP But Not Working – How To Fix

Here are some methods that can help you deal with Miracast Windows 10 not working issues:

#1. Buy an adapter

Miracast requires both sender and receiver devices to support this technology. If you don’t see the target device name on your device, there is a chance that the device doesn’t support Miracast. You can solve this quiz easily by buying a Miracast adapter.

#2. Disable VPN

VPN might conceal your device, making it undetectable. Therefore, you should turn off the VPN for a minute and reconnect.

#3. Check network

Make sure that you connect all devices to different networks. It’s hard for Wi-Fi to transmit through long distances, so consider changing your computer position for a better connection.

The other way to examine your network is to check if your computer connects to the network via Wi-Fi, not LAN. To do this, click on the Network icon at the right bottom corner, and then check the Wi-Fi status. Alternatively, you can do this:

1. Press Windows + I.

2. Click on Network.

3. Click on Wi-Fi.

4. Turn on Wi-Fi.

#4. Update Windows

Another reason for Miracast not working Windows 10 is because the version of your Windows 10 doesn’t have inbuilt support for Miracast, or an error occurred during your last update. If so, update it to the newest version or purchase an adapter.

#5. Update driver

Maybe your Wireless Network can no longer fit your device or is having compatibility issues. Try uninstalling the driver and reinstall it might be the right answer:

1. Press Windows + X and choose device manager

2. Open network adapters, right-click on the network and select Uninstall Device.

3. Click Action, then choose Scan for hardware changes.

#6. Changing Screen Resolution

1. Press Windows + X and select Settings

2. Select Display, and scroll down to Display Resolution

Choose a different resolution and see if it works.

#7. Checking Firewall

Running Windows Defender Firewall can cause Windows 10 Miracast not working.

After opening Windows Defender Firewall in the Control Panel, click on Advanced settings. We will check the “Inbound” and “Outbound” rules. In both lists, you will see “Cast to Device functionality” with TCP and UDP. These would tell you what can connect to your device. The two rules should be private, so only you can connect to the device on your network. Privately connecting to your network will allow things to work smoothly.

If you somehow set it up as a public network, go to “Network and Sharing Center,” then choose “Change advanced sharing settings” and set it back to a private network. Is this way still too difficult? Disable Windows Defender Firewall temporarily when you are using Miracast.

#8. Reconnecting target device

Assuming all of these methods failed to fix the issue, try reconnecting the device, it might just need a refresh, or you have accidentally connected to the wrong device.

1. Press Windows + I,  click Devices, and choose Bluetooth and other devices.

2. Select the wireless display, adapter, or dock and click Remove device.

3. Add this device again. Open tab Devices, choose Add Bluetooth and other devices, then Wireless display or dock and select the target device.
